James Mitchell – Smith Leonard PLLC

James Mitchell

Who says accountants can’t be fun? Meet James Mitchell, an audit and advisory partner with Smith Leonard PLLC. With over 25 years of experience, James has been with Smith Leonard since 2006.  When not practicing his dance moves, James serves privately-held, public, and not-for-profit companies. He is active in the firms recruiting efforts as well as leads Smith Leonard’s construction and real estate, education, and other not-for-profit practice groups. He is also heavily involved with many of the firms manufacturing, distribution, and international clients.  His most notable dancing experience to date is dancing with winners while handing out awards on stage at the Triad Business Journals Fast 50 program.

A graduate of Appalachian State University, James grew up in Mebane and is drawing upon his experience growing up in a house with three sisters for Dancing with the High Point Stars. He currently lives in Oak Ridge with his wife, Sandra, and has two college-aged children, Mackenzie and Trevor. James enjoys exercising, golf, driving across the country, and attending sporting events when away from the office.  He is excited to be part of this year’s group to raise money for Communities In Schools.
